This bin can be used in a wide variety of bulk solids material storage applications and workflows. It can be suitable as either a direct bulk material supply storage bin - directly feeding material into your manufacturing process, or used as a secondary/indirect storage system that feeds your primary storage. A big advantage to this system is that when it is providing "secondary" storage of bulk material, this product can keep your primary reservoir topped off at any point, and that while you are using your primary reservoir of material, you can be reload this storage bin without stopping your manufacturing process. As long as you reload this bin before the primary reservoir empties, you now effectively have a continuous supply of bulk material so that your manufacturing run time is not limited by the limits of your primary material supply. This has huge implications for many manufacturers!This material storage bin is designed to fit on top of, and be used with Gruber's Ground Hoppers, but it does not need to be placed there. Instead, you could have it floor mounted, or on an elevated pedestal. This storage bin incorporates a heavy-duty pneumatic slide gate assembly that opens to allow gravity-fed draining of the bin. The slide gate can be configured to either require manual operation via a switch, or can be configured for automatic or pneumatic triggering by another device. The basic form shown uses a pneumatically-actuated switch that the operator operating as needed. Generally this is to refill the primary material storage reservoir
A common use of this Storage Bin is to be mounted on top of a Gruber Ground Hopper, to greatly expand the bulk solid storage capacity available to extend production run times.
For polymer concrete manufacturing using our Polymer Concrete edition Autocaster continuous casting machines, the Autocaster machine includes a relatively smaller primary Filler Metering Hopper on the top of the machine, so most customers also use our Gruber Ground Hoppers to provide increased filler capacity. When used with a Gruber Ground Hopper, the Bulk Solid Storage Bin adds 1.74 cubic yards (about 46 cubic feet) of capacity to the Ground Hopper's 1/2 cubic yard of storage - which greatly extends the ability of the Autocaster machine to run for much longer period of time - particularly since their molds are so large and they need to pour the mold in a single production run. During a production run, the Autocaster automatically triggers the Ground Hopper to convey its material to the Autocaster machine's Filler Metering Hopper (located on top of the Autocaster), where it is then mixed and used in the pour. The Ground Hopper can use its entire 1/2 cubic yard of material,and with the addition of this Bulk Solid Storage bin, the operator can flip a switch to reload the Ground Hopper as needed with up to another 1.74 cubic yards of filler - so the Autocaster machine can continue running continuously for much longer period of time. This is very valuable for greatly extending the production run time, or for ensuring sufficient bulk filler material is available for large mold pours that require a large quantity of bulk fillers.
The slide gate is controlled on this configuration with a manually actuated pneumatic valve that controls the operation of two air cylinders that open and close the slide gate. When open, the material gravity feeds straight down a chute into the Ground Hopper below, and once drained, the slide gate is closed again prior to reloading the storage bin.
